The ART of Eating for Energy is a nutrition counseling program in Oakland designed to help you figure out what foods work best for you. There is no one diet that is good for everyone because everyone has different nutritional needs. Our program will help you establish a healthier relationship with food. Through our program you will come to discover how foods affect your energy level, your moods and your physiological self. We will teach you how to eat for a stronger and healthier body and mind.
Our holistic nutrition consulting service specializes in weight loss and women’s health issues. We give our clients hands-on guidance to meeting their weight loss goals with weekly weigh-ins, food logging, access to unlimited fitness classes and accountability. Digestive health is addressed along with helping our clients determine food sensitivities, when necessary.
Nutrition accounts for 80% of weight loss goals. In the beginning of a workout program people sometimes see a physical change, but after a month or so they plateau. Staying consistent with a nutrition and fitness program is challenging. Opportunities arise easily to throw one off course of a weight loss goal such as entertaining clients, work parties, family in town and holidays. Special occasions can end up not being so special and then pretty soon the goal is no longer a priority. This is why having someone keep us accountable is important and effective.
At Brooklyn Academy Roots we understand the complexities that come with seeking change. We care about our clients and love and live what we do. We consider our work an art form and this passion is reflected in the results our clients obtain.
Eating can and should be considered an art form. We can live to eat if our choices are moderate and healthy. Healthy eating doesn’t need to mean bland nor does it have to mean tofu. We teach our clients that variety in food and exercise is best. Eating different colors at each meal ensures that we are achieving a versatile, nutritional status on a daily basis. We believe that eating a diet rich in whole foods is the way to go. We recommend that our clients choose to eat organic vegetables and fruits, grass-fed beef and game, farm-pastured poultry, wild fish and a variety of whole grains.
Eating for energy is exactly why food exists. The art of eating for energy takes the mundane diet and turns it into a deeper understanding of food and self.
In our therapeutic nutrition programs we focus on the 4 R Program. This program is as follows:
1. Remove harmful pathogens or irritating substances, including allergens — we discover thist via our questionnaire, food logs and/or a blood panel.
2. Replace digestive enzymes, HCl, proteins, essential fats, vitamins and minerals.
3. Re-innoculate the gastrointestinal tract with a wide range of beneficial bacteria (probiotics)
4. Repair and rebuild the GI tract with amino acids, essential fatty acids, nutrients and relaxation.
